History: thependragonadventure.com

special thanks to the Wayback Machine for being the source of most of this information!

thependragonadventure.com was the official website for the Pendragon series. The earliest instance of the website is in October of 2002, and the last is in January of 2010. After the book series ended and DJ moved on to his next series, the website was removed and effectively replaced by djmachalebooks.com. there were many fun things to do on the website when it was available:

Official forums
the official forums opened in January of 2003. the forums were apparently very popular, gaining around 6500 users in the around seven years they were up. most of the content from the forums themselves isn't preserved, but there's some fun stuff on the wayback machine. if you're interested, i'd recommend taking a look around. the end of the forums may be the most interesting part of them, however; this user tells a story of how she and her friends were responsible for DJ shutting down the forums. the more official explanation from DJ came when the forums shut down around January of 2010: "Apparently someone hacked into the admin panel and made a mess of things. I thought it was best to simply shut it down rather than clean it up because we were planning on closing the forums down soon anyway."

Graphic novel blog
the blog was made a few months before the release of the graphic novel, around december of 2007. it was apparently made to give updates on the development of the graphic novel adaptation of Pendragon. the blog was made with Wordpress, and was hosted on both thependragonadventure.com and on Wordpress itself; in fact, the wordpress version of the blog is still available today, right here! there's a number of fun things on this site, namely DJ comparing Bobby to leonardo dicaprio, a couple sketches of Loor, and a lost image apparently showing how Bobby would have aged throughout the novels (an image I would really like to find). it's kind of sad, because the existence of the blog and the way DJ talks about it really implies that he planned for there to be more than one graphic novel. I personally would love more graphic novel adaptations... maybe one day...

Games
around April of 2009, DJ uploaded a series of ten themed flash games to thependragonadventure. the games were made using Fyrebug, a now-defunct online game maker. Out of the ten games, i've been able recover three of them so far; "Cloral Submarine Attack," "Ibara Dado Attack," and "Unite The Travelers." you can click those links to play the games on archive.org! fair warning, though... the games are hilariously bad. as for the other ten games, the best evidence i've found of them is this image containing screenshots of each of them.

Downloadables
this section of the website had a collection of pendragon screensavers, wallpapers, and icons. most of these seem lost to time, but the ones i can find are so delightful to me that i have to include them here.

a few fun icons...

and these wallpapers!

DJTV
a section of the website where DJ posted videos of him answering questions and talking about other stuff related to Pendragon. i'm pretty sure this section eventually became the "video" section on djmachalebooks.com, though there's no Pendragon related videos on that section of the site now, there was at some point. using the wayback machine (here) we can see the titles of some of these old videos, but none of them play anymore unfortunately.

if anyone has any of the content i haven't been able to find and put here, please send it to me!
