Reddit AMA 2 [01/29/2021]

this was on the ayaotd subreddit, so most of the questions were about that. any questions about pendragon are ones that dj's answered before, like about an adaptation or the ending. one good question though was about the garden poultry french fries, and dj said they were inspired by fries from a place in greenwich.

Media Mikes [05/26/2020]

they start talking about Pendragon around 31:25, in particular, when talking about how he's trying to get an adaptation, dj mentions that he's considering making it animated (though live action is still his first choice). other than that there's nothing that hasn't been said before, but it's still a pretty interesting conversation.

Rolling Hills Elementary [03/03/2020]

not technically an interview, but this is a good video of the kind of talks dj does at schools, libraries, and bookstores. he talks about how he started writing books, and reads a little out of a few of his books. it's fun, at least to me.

Gayly Dreadful [11/22/2019]

this interview doesn't actually mention pendragon at all, but it's still important to me to see dj talking about diversity and queer coding in his characters.

JeanBookNerd [07/03/2018]

there's a few particularly interesting things about this interview. first is that dj talks about the specific reasons why he thinks Pendragon became a bestseller (mostly luck), which i find fun to think about. later on, when asked what he's working on in the future, he says he has a few tv show projects that he can't talk about yet. he even says "some of them are adaptations of my books" ...i have quite a few pieces of evidence that around this time in 2018, dj was very close to getting pendragon adapted, and this is one of the largest of those pieces of evidence. i believe that whatever plans he did have have fallen through by now, but it's still fun to think about.

SciFiPulse [06/30/2018]

mostly talk about the library, since this was a few months before the second book came out. in the penultimate question, dj says "The one theme that runs through all of my writing is the idea of self-empowerment" which i find interesting and fairly true in Pendragon as well. in the last question, dj again hints towards a tv show he was working on at the time...

First Draft [01/03/2017]

dj says something very intriguing in this one, when talking about themes in his books he says they're much more complicated than his writing style would suggest. the interviewer specifically brings up "liberal political policies" and dj conspicuously clears his throat and says "I didn't say that" and "if i told you what Pendragon is really about, I would be... [mumbles]" ...so make of that what you will!

Cynsations [06/07/2014]

some pretty good questions about pendragon, nothing in particular to note though.
